LAUREL, Del. - A person has died after hitting a tree with their car early Friday morning, in Laurel.
According to Delaware State Police, around 2:20 AM, the unidentified person was driving on Bethel Road, near Oneals Road, when instead of following the curve of the road, they continued straight, drove off the road, and hit a tree. Police say that after it hit the tree, the car was torn in half and caught on fire.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. This incident is still being investigated, the name of the deceased will be released later. Traffic on Bethel Road in the area of Oneals Road, was shut down for around 4 and a half hours during the investigation. It has since been cleared and reopened.
