3rd Friday Coming To Salisbury Next Week

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. -  On Friday, November 16th, Art, Music and Holiday Spirit will take over Downtown Main Street for another great 3rd Friday.  From Santa and the Tree Lighting Ceremony, to the CCART Annual Art Show and Sale, Downtown Salisbury will be the perfect place to ring in the upcoming Holiday Season.  Artists and Crafters fill the Main Street Plaza Area, and the shops and restaurants are open with special 3F sales and events.  3rd Fridays are free to the public, so come down, and experience local art against our Downtown's beautiful backdrop!

The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is Downtown Salisbury's way of marking the beginning of the Holiday Season.  The ceremony will take place on The Government Office Building Lawn from 5:30 – 7pm.  The program will include meaningful tributes, as well as, special performances from local area dance troupes and choirs.  The ceremony is then finished up with a Drum line Parade welcoming Santa, followed by the lighting of the tree at 7pm!  After the tree is lit, children are then encouraged to join Santa in a parade down the Plaza to the Plaza Gateway building, where Santa will be posing for pictures and accepting Christmas wishes!

What Holiday Celebration would be complete without shopping?  3rd Friday has that covered too, and is so pleased to welcome the CCART Annual Art Show and Sale to the Powell Building.  This show and sale, organized by the CCART Foundation, helps raise scholarship money for local area high school students pursue their dreams of higher education in the Fine Arts, and CCART knows how to do it right!  This Show and Sale is amazing!   It is the perfect place to find unique gifts from local artists, from jewelry and handmade ornaments, to fine art paintings and more!  The 3rd Friday volunteers spend way too much money here every year, and we love it!

Need more Art and Shopping?  Well how about stopping by The Art Institute and Gallery for the opening reception for three different exhibitions, the Annual Holiday Artist Show, the Foyer Gallery Solo Exhibition of Phyllis Gillie Jaffe and the Robinson Gallery's University of MD Eastern Shore Senior Exhibition, plus everything in the gallery and the gallery shop is 10% off!  Season's Best Antiques will also have lots of great sales and goodies, on their enormous inventory of unique finds.

Once you've done enough shopping, stop by one of the special events happening this 3rd Friday.   On the Plaza, stop by West Main Recording's Open House, Downtown Salisbury's own full blown professional recording studio. Come take a tour, see some studio demonstrations, as well as, live performances.  If that wasn't cool enough, West Main has also organized an Art Show to go along with it!  Amber Nicole's Bridal will also be hosting ‘Veils and Cocktails', in the City Center Atrium, next to Aqua Bar and Restaurant.  This casual open house and bridal showcase will be filled with ideas and inspiration from a variety of local bridal businesses, and a great place to stop in!

And if that isn't enough, November's 3rd Friday marks the One Year Anniversary of our beloved Mojo's!  Can you believe it's only been one year?  Stop by for a huge celebration, so huge that they are taking it to the street!  That's right, it's a Mojo's Block Party, with live music and or course Mojo's fantastic food and drink specials!  Party Hats Optional!

3F is an all-volunteer effort, a downtown economic development initiative and a project of the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District Committee.  There is no charge for local artists to set up, only registration is required.  For more information: 3rdFridaySby@gmail.com or Visit www.3rdfridaysby.com
