
DELMARVA - A local power company is offering customers free trees, in an attempt to save them money. Delmarva Power customers can reserve trees, for free, through a program with the Arbor Day Foundation.
Officials say that by planting the trees in strategic locations, you can conserve energy and reduce your energy bills. As of Wednesday, there were 1,800 trees up for grabs until November 21st. Visit arborday.org/Delmarvatrees, to reserve your trees. Also on the website, is a tool too help you find the best place to put it, to save the most money. It will also project how much you could save a year with the trees.
The types of trees offered include: Washington hawthorn, white dogwood, bald cypress, American beech, hackberry, river birch and sugar maple. The trees will be delivered to the customers home at the ideal time for planting, but the customer is responsible for planting the 2 to 4 foot tall trees.
