Day Two For Fourth Man Charged In Fagans Murder

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. - It was day two in a murder trial unfolding in Wicomico County, Wednesday.

The fourth suspect charged in the gang-related shooting is allegedly being deemed the initiator. More details were coming out about what happened on the night of January 12th, when Arnold Fagans Junior was gunned down at the East Road Apartments' parking lot in Salisbury.

29-year-old Demarr Jones, also known as Marty Bass, is on trial and charged with two counts of accessory to murder, conspiracy to commit murder in the first and second degree and another conspiracy charge. In court, Jones was called the initiator, the ring leader at that.

Two suspects already charged and behind bars for the crime, testified against Jones. 21-year-old Kaleb Phillips was first up and says he thought of Jones like a brother. He says they hung out every day prior to incident. However, he agreed to take a plea deal because he says the other guys involved started talking, and says he didn't want to go down for the crime.

Stewart Desbagne made a similar agreement and also took the stand. Both men told jurors that Jones ordered the hit on Fagans. The motive behind it is still unclear. Both witnesses say that Fagans impregnated another gang member's girlfriend, and violated protocol.

However, Desbagne also mentioned how Fagans was apparently not paying dues to the gang. Both witnesses agree that a man by the name of Victor Keenan was the shooter and the only person with a gun that night.

When describing the killing, Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis says all five men waited for Fagans, chased him, and killed him. The final day of the trial will pick back up Thursday. More witnesses are expected to take the stand. Jones will have to wait until then to learn his fate.
