Election Boards Advise Voters Before Election Day

Posted: Updated:

WMDT 47 NEWS - Every county is preparing for the large lines at the polls.

In Accomack Co., Va., they say 23,766 residents registers.  Of those, 1,211 sent out absentee ballots.

In Kent and Sussex Cos., over 240,000 voters will take to the polls on Tuesday, while 10,000 already sent in absentees.

In Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, Caroline, Talbot and Dorchester Cos., there's 170,000 registered voters, but 21,000 already voted last week.

As these voters wait in the long lines, officials tell us the easiest way to cut down time at the polls: to do some homework at home beforehand.

"We highly recommend that they consider pre-marking their specimen or sample ballot at home," said Anthony Gutierrez, Wicomico Election Director.  "That way, if they take it with them to the polls, they're just transferring that information onto the voting units, saving them a lot of time from reading 11-ballot question they'll see on the Wicomico ballot."
