MT. VERNON, Md. - FEMA is out in Somerset and Dorchester Counties today doing preliminary damage assessments.
They're going into neighborhoods, looking for any kind of damage to report back to state officials.
FEMA workers tell us that the hardest hit areas are near coastlines.
"We've seen some water damage and some wind damage particularly across the coastal areas and there aren't so many basements in this area," said Jenny Baker, an individual assessment specialist for FEMA. "You can see on the outside of the homes where the water came up and wind damage is pretty apparent."
FEMA recommends that residents cleaning up damage, including water damage, should document damages with photographs or receipts.
