Posted: Updated:

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A top aide to Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley is leaving for the private sector.

Joseph C. Bryce, the governor's chief legislative officer, is expected to announce Friday that he is leaving to join the lobbying firm of Manis Canning & Associates in Annapolis.

The 44-year-old Bryce held the same position under former Maryland Gov. Parris N. Glendening. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland and of Georgetown University's law school.

O'Malley, a Democrat and the former mayor of Baltimore, has two years remaining in office.
