SUSSEX CO., Del - With the election just 5 days away, the countdown is on.
The race for Sussex County Clerk of the Peace may be at the bottom of the ballot, but it is one of a kind. Only in Delaware is this position decided by voters.
On the ballot are republican Brooks Witzke, democratic candidate John Brady and libertarian David Eisenhour. The person Sussex County votes for is responsible for issuing marriage and civil union licenses.
"I am the candidate that supports traditional marriage," said Witzke. "It's one of the happiest offices in Sussex County where you're making memories for people that will last potentially for the rest of their lives."
"It's my goal to balance the budget, offer additional services and make the citizens of Sussex County happy and have a good time doing it," said Eisenhour.
"I will follow the law. I know what the law currently says about marriages and civil unions and I have no problem performing the ceremony under the law. If the law changes I will follow the law," said Brady.
The current Clerk of the Peace, republican George Parrish, announced he would not be running again shortly after the same sex civil union law went into effect in Delaware.
