DELMARVA - While some are working on repairing their lives, many, are still without a roof over their heads. The American Red Cross has sheltered thousands throughout our region over the past few days, but as those facilities close and workers get back to their own lives, John Culp, Community Executive for the Lower Shore chapter of the American Red Cross says that his team is still working, but they need your help.
He told us "events like this you can't budget for. You don't know what's going to be required of you so when an event like this happens, you burn up a lot of material and a lot of money we have to go after the fact and ask people to support what we've just done."
There are only four people on staff with the Lower Shore chapter of the American Red Cross, everyone else is a volunteer. And whether you're an expert at construction, medicine, or just want to volunteer you're time and efforts in any way possible, they're looking for all to donate their time.
If you're interested in volunteering or would like to donate money to the local American Red Cross, call 302-472-624 or visit www.redcross.org/de/wilmington/volunteer.
