WICOMICO CO., Md. - Officials in Wicomico County are trying to assess damages throughout the county. They are asking homeowners, mobile homeowners, and business owners to report their damages from Hurricane Sandy to 211. They will be using the information to assist local emergency management agencies in assessing the overall damage in the county.
Restaurants and food service locations that had power outages, can't reopen until after the Health Department has authorized them to do so. A Few post-Sandy updates: All dams and bridges in the county have been inspected and cleared. There were no major damages to report. Hobbs Road near Shavox Road has been washed out after a pipe failure. Officials say that the road should be reopened on Thursday.
Department of Public Works is recommending owners of privately-held stormwater management facilities to self-inspect their property. They ask you to notify DPW of any damage by calling 410-548-4872.
Both ferries are closed at the moment, but you can call the ferry hotline at 410-543-2765, to find out when they'll be reopened.
The landfill and all transfer stations are running on normal operating hours. Bivalve, Sharptown, Newland Park, and Parsonsburg transfer stations accept brush.
