UMES Provides Safe Haven For Students

Posted: Updated:

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - University of Maryland Eastern Shore students have been ordered to move into a makeshift shelter in the Student Services Center, and the Athletic Center. We're told approximately 700 students are there.

"We actually asked all of our students to stay here.  It's more safer if they stay here, they're not on the roads or putting themselves in danger," James Lunnermon, Director of campus life said.

"I'm a little worried but I think we're in a safe place.  Everyone is together, keeping everyone healthy, everyone is fine," graduate assistant Chris Hall said.

This is a mandatory move and students are not allowed to leave, which means the students will be sleeping there for the night.
