SALISBURY, Md. - Hundreds of walkers hit the streets of Salisbury today to help raise awareness to end Alzheimer's.
Over 65 teams and 570 walkers showed up this morning to the Mac Center dressed in purple. Organizers say they are surprised by the numbers with the impending storm.
"I just couldn't believe all of the people here with this Hurricane coming, it just goes to show you that people really care about Alzheimer's," said Lisa Mertensotto, Chair for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. "The time is now: Alzheimer's can't wait we all have to get behind it and do something to find a cure."
The Alzheimer's Association estimated $80,000 raised, surpassing last year's total and their goal for this year.
