SALISBURY, Md. - Even with the talk of Hurricane Sandy coming to the Shore, it didn't stop Marylanders from taking advantage of the first day of early voting.
Hundreds of voters lined up outside the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, waiting an hour or more at a time just to get a chance to vote. Locals said they took the time today to vote because of the uncertainty of Sandy.
"The hurricane that's coming up the coast is having an impact on that people are afraid that they aren't going to get to the polls because of the storm," said Linda Twilley of Fruitland, Md.
"Normally, I do wait but I said this year, I just felt like so many things could go wrong," said Dorothy Wade of Salisbury. "Suppose we lose power for a week, what's going to happen with our voting machines?"
At this time, Board of Elections tells us that over 500 voters should up to the first day of the early polls.
