Cancelled/Postponed Events Across Delmarva

WMDT 47 NEWS - With the projected path of Hurricane Sandy headed right towards Delmarva, many organizations are choosing to cancel or postpone their events ahead of time. Check back often, as we'll be updating the on-going list frequently.

 

DELAWARE:

  • GEORGETOWN, Del. - League of Women Voters – Sussex County: Candidate Forum – Tuesday at Georgetown Public Library at 7 PM - Cancelled
  • NEWARK, Del. - The event of DSU being awarded Tree Campus USA® distinction, the Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota are granting 25 trees to the campus for Tuesday, October 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Delaware State University has been canceled due to the possible storm Hurricane Sandy could bring to the area and for the safety of all involved

  • NEW CASTLE, Del. -  The ceremony to celebrate 20 years of the Delaware Mentor Program (For Women in Transition) at Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution that was scheduled for Tuesday, Oct 30 has been rescheduled for Thursday, November 1 from 6 -8 PM.
  • SEAFORD, Del. - League of Women Voters – Sussex County: Candidate Forums – Monday at Seaford Public Library at 7 PM – Cancelled.
  • SMYRNA, Del. - Due to the impending storm, Bayhealth has postponed the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Emergency Center Smyrna, previously scheduled for Monday, October 29, 2012, at 12:00 PM.

  • TOWNSEND, Del. - The volunteer tree planting event at the Blackbird Creek Reserve scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27 has been postponed due to the impending coastal storm.

 

MARYLAND:

  • Due to Hurricane Sandy impacting the state, the Governor has cancelled early voting on Monday, October 29th for all Maryland Counties. At the present time, early voting should continue on Tuesday.
  • All scheduled surgeries have been cancelled for Tuesday at both Memorial Hospital and Dorchester General Hospital. Both hospitals emergency departments and the Queen Anne's Emergency Center remain operating normally, but under weather alert.
  • DORCHESTER CO., Md. - The Dorchester County Council Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 30, 2012, has been cancelled. The next meeting of the Dorchester County Council will take place on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.
  • EASTON, Md. - The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum will be closed to visitors and staff on Monday and will follow Talbot County Public Schools closures for weather.
  • EASTOn, Md. - Recycling has been cancelled for Monday, October 29 in the Town of Easton. There is no rescheduling information available at this time.
  • SALISBURY, Md. - Wicomico Recreation and Salisbury University's ‘Be The Match' Zombie Run & Adult Halloween Social scheduled for Saturday, October 27 has been cancelled due to inclement weather. Participants who registered in advance for the event will receive a full refund

  • SALISBURY, Md. - PRMC's Sneakers and Creepers 5K Run/2 Mile Walk scheduled for Sunday, October 28 has been postponed until Sunday, November 4.

  • SALISBURY, Md. - The Ribbon Cutting for Salisbury Neighborhood Housing, originally scheduled for Monday, October 29, 10:00am has been postponed due to the severe storm warnings.

  • SALISBURY, MD - Due to the continuing impact of Hurricane Sandy on the Delmarva Peninsula, the U.S. senatorial debate hosted by Salisbury University's Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE), originally scheduled Tuesday, October 30, has been canceled.

  • POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - The Ribbon Cutting for Poultry Supply LLC , that had been scheduled for Monday Oct, 29 11:00 a.m. has been Postponed. Due to severe weather warnings. The Grand Opening will be rescheduled for Thursday November 1, 11:00 am-3p.m.

  • WICOMICO CO., Md. - SWAC's Tuesday Oct 30th, Arts Round Table  has been cancelled.
