DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware natural resources officials are reminding waterfowl hunters that lead shot is prohibited in shotgun shells.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control says it is urging waterfowl hunters to check hunting bags, coats, boats and other gear to make sure they are not carrying any shot gun shells with lead shot. Department officials say small-game hunters sometimes forget to remove boxes of lead shot from their hunting bags and coats.
The department says lead shot can contaminate habitat and poison wildlife and hunters can be fined for possessing lead shotgun shells.
