DENTON, Md. - Police are investigating the death of an infant in Caroline County.

Maryland State Police say that on Wednesday, the 10 month old girl was found, unresponsive, during an afternoon nap at her daycare. Officials say that when they arrived on scene, the daycare provider was performing CPR, but the infant was later pronounced dead at Easton Memorial Hospital.

Investigators say that there were no visible signs of trauma, and the autopsy came back showing no internal or external trauma to her body. The Medical Examiners Office are awaiting the results of toxicology tests, before releasing cause and manner of death.

Officials from multiple police agencies, MSP Homicide, the Department of Social Service, Department of Childcare Licensing, and the Caroline County State's Attorney's Office are all working on this on-going investigation. Stay tuned to WMDT and WMDT.com for the latest.
