SALISBURY, Md. - Dorothy Phippin Cooper of Salisbury went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 20, 2012. She was born July 23, 1913 in Salisbury to the late Jerome Garner and Clara Pearl Phippin.She graduated from Goldey-Beacom Business College in Wilmington, Delaware. Following her graduation, she had her own radio program on home making, worked for a doctor's office, and was a bank teller. However, her main dedication and occupation was her family and church. She and her husband, the late Robert E. Cooper, loved traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.She was a member of Bethesda Methodist Church where she served on the Alter Guild, and was in the Elizabeth Circle.
She is survived by three children, Steve Cooper and his wife, Joyce of Tucson, AZ, Judy Adkins of Salisbury and Dr. Jerry Cooper and his wife, Barbara of Hagerstown, MD. She has eight grandchildren, Bob Cooper and David Cooper of Tucson, AZ., Tally Myers of Westminster, MD, Laura Jewett of Weston, FL., Dr. Kent Adkins of St. Louis, MO, Mark Cooper of Hawaii, Sarah McDonald of Fairfax, VA and Michael Cooper of Orange, VA. She has 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
A memorial service of celebration will be held in Bethesda United Methodist Church, 406 North Division St., Salisbury on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. Jerry Cooper and the Rev. Rob Townsend will officiate. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Bethesda UMC Endowment Fund, 406 N.
