SALISBURY, Md. - For all you Monopoly lovers out there - Maryland Capitol Enterprises hosts the official Maryland Eastern Shore MONOPOLY Game Tournament next weekend.
The competition is one of many local tournaments held nationwide to assist non-profit organizations like MCE in raising funds for their causes. Proceeds benefit the MCE effort to assist micro-businesses on The Shore with business loans, education, and consulting.
The tournament will start on Friday, November 2nd at 6:00pm which includes a 90 minute preliminary round that each participant is required to play. The top 6 winners of that game will play in the final round to be held at the UMES Student Services Center on Saturday, November 3rd prior to the Gala. The Gala will include a dinner, casino games, live band and a silent auction. The registration fee is $50 which includes admission to the Gala. You can register for the tournament by calling MCE at 410-546-1900 or by email to irina@marylandcapital.org.
"It's actually the largest board game in the world, I was surprised to find out. We found adults actually compete in this at a very high level. It fits our actual organization's purpose which is to assist small businesses and train them, so it's kind of a business model game," Joe Morse from MCE said.
