WICOMICO CO., Md. - A chemical has been found in well water in the area. The Wicomico County Health Department is working with the Maryland Department of the Environment after they found trichloroethene (TCE) in groundwater.
It is a clear, nonflammable liquid, with a sweet smell that is used as an industrial solvent. Officials say that the chemical was found in private wells around Morris Mill Road, the Coulbourne Woods Subdivision and part of Anthony Lane.
The affected homes have been notified, and provided with bottled water, until the situation is resolved. There will be a public meeting, held by the Health Department and the MDE on Thursday, November 8th, at 6 PM at Parkside High School.
Anyone with questions should contact the Wicomico County Health Department at 410-546-4446 with questions.
