OCEAN PINES, Md. - The Democratic Women's Club is collecting canned goods and nonperishable groceries.
Started 10 years ago, it takes place every third Sunday. The women donate the food to three different food banks: Sarah's Pantry, Diakonia and Saint Paul's By The Sea. Organizers tell us that because of high unemployment in the area, donating to the food banks is as important as it has ever been.
"There's just a big need for helping people," said Sandy Miller of the Democratic Women's Club. "Now, there's just a lot of people unemployed and they need help; people that haven't needed help before."
