BRIDGEVILLE, Del. - The 27th World Championship Punkin Chunkin Returns.
The World Championship Punkin Chunkin Association (WCPCA) launches the annual Punkin Chunkin on the Wheatley Farm in Bridgeville, Delaware. The 26th annual event takes place Nov. 2-4, 2012.
The WCPCA raises money for organizations and scholarship programs that benefit youth and community by bringing in huge crowds and local and national media coverage. Many organizations benefit from the event, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®, Autism Delaware® and Childhelp® to name a few.
Punkin Chunkin has grown over the 26 years to become an international event with a huge following. The unusual gigantic machines with the sole purpose of throwing pumpkins as far as provide fun and entertainment for all in attendance.
The Discovery Channel® and Science Channel® film the event and it has become a big attraction on the Thanksgiving Day line upon those channels.
The American Bus Association named it one of North America's top 100 festivals for 2012, as the event brings over 100,000 visitors to Sussex County Delaware.
