OCEAN CITY, Md. - Officials have figured out where last months fire at Bradley on the Bay Condominiums started. The Ocean City Fire Marshal's Office says that they've been investigating the September 26th incident, and they've determined that the fire started on the South balcony in the area of Unit #313.
They still aren't sure what the cause is. They have not ruled out improperly discarded smoking material and possible electrical malfunction as contributing factors. The fire started around 6 PM, in Building C of the complex on Coastal Highway. Fire Departments reported from surrounding areas to the two alarm blaze.
Firefighters had to attack the flames from outside, due to heavy fire and a floor collapse. Crews were on scene for more than 4 and a half hours while they put out the blaze. OCFD remained at the building thought the night, to control potential rekindles.
Officials say that 9 condo units were heavily damaged by fire, and the rest of the building sustained heavy water damage. The two buildings surrounding the fire, received exterior heat damage.
