EAST NEW MARKET, Md. - An East New Market man was arrested after allegedly holding a woman against her will. According to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, a deputy on patrol, was flagged down by a woman. The woman reportedly told police that a different woman, had run into the Hometown Pride Store in East New Market and told patrons that she had been assaulted and held against her will.
The deputy says they met with the woman and saw that she was injured, and started an investigation. That investigation led officials to an Academy Street home, where the victim had reportedly been held. There they reportedly attempted to arrest, Robert Duke, 32, who police say then pulled out a box cutter, and became uncooperative. According to the Sheriff's Office, the deputy had to use a Taser a total of 4 times, before taking Duke into custody.
After being treated and released for Dorchester General Hospital, he was charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault, resisting arrest, false imprisonment, and other related offences. Duke is being held on $75,000 bond. The victim was treated and released from Easton Memorial Hospital.
