WMDT - Who needs a debate face-off to help decide the presidency when there is apparently another "unconventional" way to predict the outcome of the election?

Since 1996, the national costume chain Spirit of Halloween says it has been able to accurately predict the winner of that year's election based on which mask sold more.

According to a Seattle Weekly article, Spirit reported more people bought Obama masks than John McCain, 60 percent to 40 percent. In 2004, more George W. Bush's were out trick or treating than John Kerrys by 65 percent to 35 percent. And back in 1996, Bill Clinton masks beat out Bob Dole in masks sales 71 percent to 29 percent.

So far, the chain has President Obama masks ahead of Mitt Romney, but a local store says they've seen more Romney heads fly off the shelf.

We'll have to wait until after November 6th to see if this interesting presidential predictor still holds true.
