SALISBURY, Md. - It may seem like a college sorority and a high school football team don't have much in common.
But this morning they joined forces to "Play For Pink."
Parkside High School and Salisbury University students came together to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. Not only did players wear pink socks in support, but cheerleaders and fans also dressed in pink. Members of Zeta Tau Alpha also sold pink ribbons and raffle tickets.
"Our next game is not until November 1st and we figured a Saturday, a lot of families would be able to come out," said Jessica Guns, ZTA alumnae and current cheerleading coach. "It's really important for young girls to be educated now so in the future it's something they don't have to think about, it just comes naturally."
All proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. This is not the only football team wearing pink. Seaford High's football team previously wore pink wristbands, socks and shoestrings.
