SALISBURY, Md. - Closing costs can be a major hurdle for anyone looking to buy a new home, but thanks to a new grant, that may no longer be a concern for some Salisbury residents.
The Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services just received an $82,500 grant that will allow the non-profit to help residents across the city afford to buy their own home.
Cheryl Meadows, Executive Director of the Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services says a lot of people "may be making enough money to make a mortgage payment and still have a dream of becoming a home owner, but they don't have the cash saved up that they would need for closing costs," and these costs can be 5-6% of the total purchase price of a home.
With the grant, the non-profit can give a maximum of $8,300 to eligible applicants.
