Delmarva Power Offers Free Trees To Help Reduce Energy Bills

Posted: Updated:

DELMARVA - If you're looking to conserve energy and save some money on those energy bills, Delmarva Power wants to help.

They're providing 3,000 free trees for customers to plant strategically. You can reserve up to two trees and you're expected to care for and plant them in a location provided by the "Energy-Saving Trees" online tool. The two-to-four foot trees will be delivered directly to you at an ideal time for planting. The types of trees offered include Washington hawthorn, white dogwood, bald cypress, American beech, hackberry, river birch and sugar maple.

"With the strategic planting of trees in the right location at your home or business, it can help provide the necessary cover in terms of shade during hot weather, or cover from the wind during extremely cold weather. The scientists say that within 20 years, these 3,000 matured trees will save about $500,000 energy savings," Delmarva Power spokesperson Matt Likovich said.

You can reserve your trees starting October 9 at arborday.org/delmarvatrees.
