SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University is reminding local students of the college options right in their backyard. October 9th kicks off the first of 4 Science Nights @ SU where high school students get a sneak peek at what it's like to study science at Salisbury University.
Brent Zaprowski, Associate Professor of Geology at the college, says "it'll give potential high school students the opportunity to learn more about Salisbury science programs than they might normally have the opportunity to."
The sessions will have faculty, staff, and current undergrads talking about the school's programs. There will also be a chance for students to do actual science experiments in the Salisbury University labs.
In its third year, the program has been successful with 52 students having registered for the first day of Science Nights @ SU 2012, up from the 35 that attended last year.
Sessions will be held on the following dates from 6-8:30pm
Tuesday, October 9 - Chemistry
Tuesday, November 13 - Physics and Engineering
Tuesday, December 4 - Earth and Atmospheric Science
Tuesday, February 5 - Math and Computer Science
The sessions are open to all high school students considering careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
