GEORGETOWN, Del. - Elections are only a month away.  Some key Delaware races are heading towards the finish line.

"As long as these same people are still there, things are not going to change," said Duke Brooks, communications director for the Sussex Co. Republican Party.

For Delaware voters, there's only 29 days left to decide.

Is Gov. Jack Markell seat safe from business owner Jeff Cragg?  How about incumbent Lt. Gov. Matt Denn: will Republican nominee Sher Valenzuela or the Libertarian nominee Margaret McKeown challenge him?  What about the other Democratic led-offices?

"Our candidates are a reflection of average Delawareans and folks who are committed in public service and getting the job done 31," said Joe Aronson, executive director of the Delaware Democratic Party.

"Voters are getting tired of the professional, career politicians," said Brooks.

He added that the party is looking for a different type of candidate, one that is "a citizen politician, kind of in the Thomas Jefferson mold [who] is just as capable of running things as an individual who has spent there entire lives in government."

For the Democratic party, they say this mentality won't sit well with Delawareans.

"You see folks who are interested in coming out of the woodworks to align themselves with some of the most extreme policies," said Aronson. "I don't think that attracts a lot of people to their party."

Remember, there's still time to register to vote.  The deadline in Delaware is October 13th,  Virginia is October 15th and Maryland is the day after, on the 16th.
