UPDATE: Fatal Crash Closes Route 1 Near Smyrna

SMYRNA, Del. - Route 1 was shut down shut down fore nearly 6 hours at exit 119 as Delaware State Police investigated a fatal crash.

Authorities responded to the area near the Kent County Line around noon, where they say a box truck ran into a pick-up truck towing a camper that was stopped on the shoulder. They tell us one of the occupants of the box truck died and the other was taken to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries. The two occupants who were in and around the pick-up truck were not injured.
