Del. Sen. Carper Agrees To Series Of Debates

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Tom Carper has agreed to participate in 10 debates and candidate forums as he seeks re-election to a third term.

Carper's has already appeared at one candidate forum, held two days after the Sept. 11 primary. At that appearance, Republican opponent Kevin Wade challenged Carper to at least 10 debates. He later criticized Carper for not committing to a series of joint appearances.

But Carper's campaign said Monday that he will appear at nine debates and forums to be held over span of 18 days starting Oct. 15.

Independent candidate Alex Pires Jr. also is hoping to unseat Carper.
