Pedestrian Hit On SR 1 In Rehoboth Beach

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - Police are investigating a crash involving a pedestrian in Rehoboth Beach. It happened around 5:35 PM on Sunday evening on SR 1.

Delaware State Police say that Bernice Wastler, 73, of Rehoboth Beach, was driving North on Coastal Highway coming to a traffic light at the Seaside Outlet entrance. According to the press release, Kelley Oram, 34, of Rehoboth Beach, was trying to walk across the highway from the east side to the west, and as Wastler went through the intersection, Oram was hit.

Both the driver and the pedestrian were taken by EMS to the hospital. Wastler was reportedly wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash and was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Oram is currently listed in critical condition at Christiana Hospital.

Traffic in the area of the crash was impacted for around 3 hours, while the scene was investigated and cleared.
