SALISBURY, Md. - James S. Heath, 69, of Salisbury died on Friday, October 05, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 25, 1942. From Princess Anne, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Peacock Heath. Following high school Jim served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Giant Food for over 30 years where he received the Jacob J. Lehrman award. In previous years he received the Salisbury Jaycees "Volunteer of the Year Award" for his involvement in various youth programs, including Salisbury Little League, Pony League and Salvation Army where he was instrumental in fundraising efforts. In addition to his career, his passion was woodworking alongside his wife and traveling to craft shows. He was an active member of Allen Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister; Peggy Merrill, a brother; Ellis Reid Heath, father-in-law; Howard Elliott, mother-in-law; Nell Elliott and brother-in-law; H.B. Elliott. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years; Susan Thomas Heath of Salisbury, two children; Tracy Heath and her partner Lisa Merrick of Hebron and James T. Heath of Salisbury, three grandchildren; Kailey, Jordan and Jaydon Heath, two sisters; Barbara Waddell and Suzanne Church, two brothers; Clarence "Buddy" Heath (Kaye) and Michael Heath (Elva), a sister-in-law; Lois Heath, Judie Taylor, Sandy Thomas and brother-in-law Keith Elliott (Sandy) all of Salisbury and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Allen Memorial Baptist Church, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial in Springhill Memory Gardens will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to; Allen Memorial Baptist Church, Adult Choir Program or Walter Kendall Allen Missions, 1303 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804.
