RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Twenty-two projects that will promote Virginia's specialty crops have received state funding.
The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has awarded $496,000 in grants for crops ranging from wine grapes to Christmas trees. The individual grants range from $5,000 to $30,000.
Department commissioner Matthew Lohr says the grants will boost economic development and create agribusiness jobs in the state.
