Wicomico County Joins Maryland Rural Counties Coalition.

SALISBURY, Md. -- Wicomico County has joined the Maryland Rural Counties Coalition.

The group was created this year to give a unified voice to the rural counties like Somerset and Dorchester when navigating through state politics.

"We believe that decisions that impact the quality of life, how we manage our land resources, how we decide to grow as a community should be made locally," said County Executive Rick Pollitt.

Pollitt wants to make it clear that the coalition doesn't oppose Maryland's Governor Martin O'Malley or any of the state initiatives. It's just working to give a louder voice to the rural communities.
