Redskins Endorse Maryland Gambling Measure

Posted: Updated:

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The Washington Redskins are endorsing a ballot question in Maryland to expand gambling.

The team issued a statement on Tuesday voicing support for allowing a casino in Prince George's County, where the Redskins play in Landover.

Dennis Greene, president of the team's business operations, says in the statement that the team is a member of the Prince George's County business community. He says the team sees it as an obligation to support major economic development initiatives in the county.

Greene says the Redskins view the gambling expansion as an opportunity to create thousands of jobs, increase funding for schools and provide money for state and local government services.

Greene also says the team is urging its fans to join the Washington Redskins in supporting the ballot question on Election Day.
