Dominion Power Helping Customers Stay Warm

WMDT 47 NEWS --  Dominion Virginia Power says it is providing $2 million to help customers keep their homes warm this winter.

The energy company said Monday that the additional funding brings its 2012 contribution to its EnergyShare program to $4.5 million. EnergyShare is a program of last resort for the elderly, the ill and anyone facing financial hardships from unemployment or family crisis and needing help paying energy bills.

Last year, it helped nearly 13,000 families pay part of their winter energy costs. Eligible customers can receive a one-time payment of up to $600 per heating season.

Dominion says the year-round program that has raised more than $55 million in its 31-year history.
