
SALISBURY, Md. - The Life Crisis Center, a local women's shelter serving Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset counties, has received a $20,000 grant from The Mary Kay Foundation.
In observation of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, The Mary Kay Foundation awards $20,000 grants to more than 150 domestic violence shelters across the country for a total of $3 million.
The Life Crisis Center will use the grant to provide critical support for its domestic violence Safe House.
The Life Crisis Center provides a wide range of services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse at no charge. In addition to the 19 bed Safe House, LCC offers intensive case management, supervised visitation, counseling, legal services and a 24 hour crisis hot line. In 2011, LCC provided a safe residence for more than 240 women and children who fled dangerous life threatening situation.
