Business Owner Thwarts Robbery Of Shop

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Del. - Delaware State Police say a business owner thwarted a robbery by confronting a gunman.

It happened about 2:45 p.m. Monday at Hitchens Auto Sales in Georgetown. Troopers say a man entered the store, pulled a handgun from his waistband and demanded money from an employee.

Officers say the employee screamed and the gunman retreated. When the gunman reached the door, the business owner, who had a metal pipe, forced the gunman to the ground and disarmed him.

Twenty-seven-year-old Aaron Jefferson of Millsboro has been charged with attempted robbery and other offenses.
