UPDATE: Skateboarders Return To OC Boardwalk

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Ocean City council members are set to vote on updating a skateboarding law.  As of now, riders may not use or operate a skateboard on the Boardwalk.

Last week , council members were set to vote on changing the 30-year-old skateboarding law after an online petition requested an alteration to the current rules.  Council is set to vote Monday.

***UPDATE***

Skateboarders are now allowed on the Ocean City Boardwalk. The Ocean City Council passed the new skateboard law Monday night with a six to one vote and Mayor Rick Meehan approved the change.

An online petition prompted city officials to take another look at the 1972 law. The skateboard law is similar to the bicycle ordinance, which allows riders on the boardwalk at anytime during the off season and only at specified times during the summer.
