FEDERALSBURG, Md. - An arrest has been made in connection with a homicide that happened on Tuesday in Federalsburg.
Maryland State Police have arrested Davonta' Deshields, 21, of Federalsburg, and charged him with 1st and 2nd degree murder, 1st degree assault, reckless endangerment, and numerous handgun violations.Currently, he is being held, without bond, at the Caroline County Detention Center.
The investigation began after a 911 call about a man, later identified as 21-year-old Anthony Abner, Jr., laying in front of a business on East Central Avenue in Federalsburg. Abner was pronounced dead at the scene. Police originally though he died of a single gunshot wound, but an autopsy report revealed that he died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Officials searched Deshields's grandmother's home where they say they found several possibly incriminating items. Police say that there is still no clear motive for the crime. The investigation is on-going, and police are currently conducting searches of bodies of water in the area, for evidence.
