LAUREL, Del. - Patrick John Stewart, aged 51, of Laurel, DE slipped peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 while holding hands with his devoted wife of 22 years, Doris M. Stewart. Born in Salisbury, MD on Aug. 24, 1961, he was the son of the late William R. and Ruth Cooper Stewart. Patrick worked as a grain operator with Townsends/Mountaire for over 15 years. He loved NASCAR, was a Dale Earnhardt fan, and was a Harley Davidson buff, loving both motorcycles and classic cars, especially Chevrolets. He was an avid dog lover, with a specialty in Bulldogs. He also loved the outdoors, fishing, yard work and playing with his dogs. He loved to make people laugh, and was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
In addition to his beloved wife Doris, he is survived by children: Patrick "PJ" Carey, of Milford; Misty Toomey, and husband Harvey, of Dagsboro; William "Will" Stewart, of Laurel; James Hudson, of Laurel; Kenneth Stewart, of Laurel; and a sister Rujean Morgan, and her husband Warren, of Felton; and brothers: Robert Stewart, and his wife Marilyn, of Tyler, TX; James Stewart, of Ft. Dodge, IO; Jack Stewart, of Harrington, DE. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and numerous family members and friends. He is also survived by his special friend, who he considered a brother: Frank Tolson, of Harrington, DE. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-brothers: Charles and William Hudson.
A Celebration of His Life, and Memorial Service will be held on Friday Evening, September 28 at 8 PM at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, DE, where friends may call from 6 till 8 PM. Pastor Jeff Hudson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to assist with expenses.
