BETHANY BEACH, Del. (AP) - Officials in a Delaware shore community are mulling a boardwalk expansion.
Bethany Beach Mayor Tony McClenny is proposing that the width of the boardwalk be expanded by 8 feet. The current width is about 12 feet.
McClenny's proposal centers on the boardwalk's commercial area, between Campbell Place and Hollywood Street, and he broached the idea at a workshop last week.
Council members expressed divided opinions about whether the proposed expansion was necessary.
The project came up three years ago, but town council members voted against it.
