Delaware Republicans Offer Agenda For Improvement

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Incumbent Republican lawmakers and candidates for legislative seats are unveiling an agenda for improving state government and Delaware's economy.

State GOP chairman John Sigler joined fellow Republicans on Thursday to announce the 15-point "Making Delaware First Again" agenda.

The agenda consists of 15 proposals, including phasing out the gross receipts tax and limiting the growth of state spending. Republicans also want to prohibit legislators from being hired by state agencies while holding state office and from working as lobbyists for two years after leaving office.

Other agenda items include using education funding more efficiently and allowing Delawareans more options to purchase health care coverage.

House Minority Leader and state party vice-chairman Greg Lavelle said the proposal is a statement of basic GOP principles.
