Go Red Luncheon Raises Awareness For Women And Heart Disease

Posted: Updated:

LONG NECK, Del. A big success to report at the 6th annual Go Red for Women luncheon and fashion show.

It was a sea of red at the Clubhouse at Baywood Greens in Long Neck. We're told more than 250 women showed up to show their support. Organizers say this yearly event not only raises money, but also awareness. They hope it prompts others to join the fight against heart disease.

"We have gals attending this luncheon every year who spontaneously will get up and say, 'well this was my symptom, and this is what I did and here I am today. And I'm certainly healthier because I'm wiser,'" Board Member of the Southern Delaware American Heart Association Pat Sandy said.

We're told all the money raised stays in Southern Delaware and will go towards new research and testing.
