SEAFORD, Del. - Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single vehicle crash in on Hastings Farm Road, north of Old Furnace Road near Seaford.
They say it happened just after 2:15 on the morning of September 19th as the driver, 23-year-old James Serge, was driving southbound coming up on a small curve. He reportedly told troopers that two deer were standing in the roadway, so he hit the breaks and swerved left to avoid hitting them.
According to the report, the vehicle began to spin counter-clockwise before leaving the wet roadway and hitting the brick pillar of a driveway, with the font bumper. The vehicle then hit another brick structure and continued spinning, ejecting Serge; but the vehicle kept moving and went down an embankment, finally coming to a stop after hitting a tree.
Serge, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he is currently in stable condition. His passenger, 28-year-old Gamson Milce, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was also not wearing a seat belt, but was not ejected from the vehicle.
At this time, police have not determined if alcohol was a factor.
