WEST OCEAN CITY, Md. - A man has been arrested after his girlfriend reportedly begged for help from police, after he apparently assaulted her.
On September 15th, a Worcester County Sheriff's Deputy was looking around the Park and Ride lot in West Ocean City, when the Deputy saw a man, illegally, sleeping in his SUV. As the Deputy walked up to the vehicle, they saw a woman in the backseat, who was clearly upset and crying. She apparently mouthed "help me" to the deputy.
The investigation showed that the woman was the driver's, Anthony Pattelli, 30, of California, girlfriend, and they had been living in the car for a few days. They say that the two got into an argument earlier that evening, that escalated and every time that she tried to leave, Pattelli assaulted her again, and hauled her back to the SUV.
By the time that the Deputy arrived, the victim had apparently given up trying to run, and had been held for more than two hours. Police say that the victim had visible injuries to her head, mouth, and throat. They arrested Pattelli, charged him with 2nd degree assault and false imprisonment. He is being held on $5,000 bond.
