Libyan Consulate Dead Taken To Dover Mortuary

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Authorities have confirmed that the bodies of four Americans killed in the U.S. consulate attack in Libya were brought to the military mortuary at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for processing.

The Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations office at Dover said Monday that the bodies of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other men were brought to the mortuary Friday after arriving at Andrews Air Force Base outside Washington, where President Obama led a public tribute.

In addition to Stevens, the other victims were Sean Smith, an Air Force veteran who worked as an information management specialist for the State Department, and former Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, who provided protection for diplomatic personnel. The four were killed Sept. 11 in an attack on the consulate in Benghazi.
