Randy Clayton
WICOMICO CO., Md - The verdict is in for Randy Clayton. A jury found him guilty Wednesday of first degree murder. What started as an argument at the Chestnut Manor Apartments in March, ended in the death of 26-year-old Euric George.
Prosecutors say Clayton gunned the victim down, firing until there were no bullets left in the chamber. Clayton did testify in his own defense, but officials say the evidence and the testimonies clinched the conviction.
"We had DNA evidence from a shirt that had been discarded by the defendant as he left the crime scene the ballistic evidence was five shots removed from the victim's body," said Joel Todd, Wicomico County Assistant State's Attorney.
"We had some very brave citizens and I would like to thank the citizens of Wicomico County for helping us secure this very important conviction," said Richard Brueckner, Assistant State's Attorney.
The other suspect is Bilal Akram, who is scheduled to be in court September 25th. We're waiting to hear when the sentencing date will be set for Clayton, and as soon as we get that information, we'll pass it on to you.
