Allen Gantt, Jr.
HURLOCK, Md. - Dorchester County Sheriffs arrest a wanted Delaware man after an accident sends him to the hospital. Monday, September 10th, deputies responded to area of River Road in Hurlock, MD for an accident with injuries. When they got there, they found that Federalsburg Police tried to stop a white Cadillac in Federalsburg, MD, but the driver sped off and fled town.
Troopers say, some time later, the suspect, 30-year-old Allen Gantt, Jr. of Rehoboth Beach, DE, was ejected from his vehicle after losing control over it, causing it to overturn several times, finally coming to rest in a soybean field. He was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore and released to the Dorchester County Sheriff's office Tuesday, September 11th.
Gantt, Jr. was wanted in the state of Delaware. On September 2nd, he allegedly attempted to run over a Delaware State Trooper in Kent County. Authorities also believe he was involved in a September 5th mobile home barricade in Dover, DE.
We've learned that Gantt, Jr. does have a criminal record. In 2003, he was sentenced to 18 months behind bars on theft and burglary charges in Sussex County. Earlier that same year, he was shot in the stomach by a Delaware State Trooper after pulling out a gun and pointing it at the trooper.
While investigating the scene of the accident September 10th, authorities found 12.9 grams of powdered cocaine. Gantt, Jr. now faces a slew of charges including, being a Fugitive from Justice for the charges in Delaware and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Cocaine for the drugs found at the scene.
He is being held without bond pending extradition to Delaware.
